Warming? What Warming?

You knew it would happen sooner or later.  The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), which is in part funded by Exxon and the American Petroleum Institute (which I ran across a few times in regards to ocean drilling and sonar issues), today launched a national ad campaign to 'educate' the public on how limiting CO2 emissions is 'the single most important regulatory issue today', and that it is, in fact, 'nothing short of an attempt to supress energy use, which in turn would be economically devastating-all to avert an alleged catastrophe whose scientific basis is dubious'.  That's according to Marlo Lewis, senior fellow in environmental policy at CEI. I wonder if this has something to do with Al Gore's new film.

You can read CEI's stupefying press release here and view the ads, which, let's be honest, are an act of genius ('Carbon Dioxide: they call it pollution, we call it life') here

Also see ThinkProgress, where I learned about this, and Sourcewatch, which has the low-down on CEI.

There was a good profile of Al Gore and his new film on warming in today’s Guardian –,,1779410,00.html It’s nice to think that there are some American Democrats out there who aren’t total sell-outs.
